Alexandra is a writer based in the beautiful county of Cornwall. Her work explores nature and place, delving into the reciprocal influences between people and their environments, often weaving in elements of folklore and history.
She contributes to multiple publications, including The Guardian’s ‘Country Diary’, BBC Wildlife, and BBC Countryfile. Alexandra previously wrote a regular series on British trees for The Countryman and a monthly nature column for Campaign to Protect Rural England, as well as features on wild mammals for Small Furry Pets and walking routes for Cornwall Life. She previously wrote nature-inspired meditation stories for the Carbon Unwind app.
Her writing also supports wildlife and nature charities, creating promotional materials such as guidebooks, leaflets, website content, and signage. In 2023, she contributed to The Wildlife Trusts’ 30 Days Wild blog and previously helped run all social media accounts for Cornwall Wildlife Trust and on occasion The Wildlife Trust’s during 30 Days Wild. She currently partners with the 2 Minute Foundation, producing social media content based on weekly nature news. She wrote media pieces for The Woodland Trust which featured in both local and national newspapers.
Alexandra’s work has been featured in several books. Her piece Private Archibald Browne is Remembered was published in Under Changing Skies, an anthology of the best writing from Country Diary (2018–2024). She also contributed an essay on the mayfly to The Wildlife Trusts’ Summer anthology, and her story Halcyon Daze appeared in Terra Incognita’s 2018 wildlife blogger collection, later featured on BBC Radio Cornwall in 2020. On her website, she has published a reflective piece about pregnancy and apple trees, alongside a fictional story inspired by the life of a horse chestnut tree.
Previously, Alexandra worked in conservation, where her efforts won a wildlife award in 2020. She led campaigns, wrote press releases, and served as a spokesperson for the charity. She currently sits on the committee of the award-winning Cornwall Mammal Group, where she is the newsletter editor and has recently taken over managing their social media.
